Czwartkowa impreza spod znaku TMT.Communities upłynęła pod znakiem dyskusji nad sensem zmian legislacyjnych w obliczu ewoluujących wymagań odbiorców treści chronionych prawem autorskim. Za koniecznością modernizacji prawa gorąco postulował Marcin de Kamiński z The Pirate Bay, a następnie – występujący podczas kolejnego panelu dyskusyjnego – Błażej Kaczorowski z Partii Piratów. – Dzisiejszy system jest archaiczny i najwyższy czas już na jego gruntowną reformę – przekonywali.
Konferencja, która początkowo przebiegała bez większych emocji, poza kilkoma momentami – m.in. podczas wystąpienia Marcina de Kamińskiego, zaczęła nabierać rumieńców dopiero po lunchu.
Panel dyskusyjny z udziałem Jakuba Duszyńskiego (Gutek Film), Daniela Hasika (CMS Cameron McKenna), Błażeja Kaczorowskiego (Polska Partia Piratów), Marcina de Kamiński (The Pirate Bay) oraz Andrzeja Kuśmierczyka (ZAiKS) zaowocował kilkoma zaskakującymi oświadczeniami. Jako pierwszy uczestników zaskoczył Duszyński z Gutek Film, który powiedział, że sprawa serwisów z napisami była nieprzemyślanym działaniem. – Dałem się ponieść emocjom. Po fakcie zdałem sobie sprawę, że wykonałem czarno-piarową robotę wobec mojej firmy – powiedział. Ciekawe stwierdzenie padło również z ust Kuśmierczyka, który powiedział, że ZAiKS popiera pomysł aby nie ścigać, ale dogadać się z piratami. Piractwo – jak powiedział – można wykorzystać do dobrych celów.
W trakcie dyskusji przedstawiciel Gutek Film dodał, że kryzys jest idealnym momentem na przełom. – Jesteśmy w stanie zrobić jakieś fajne, rewolucyjne przedsięwzięcie. Nie róbmy kolejnego serwisu z VOD, za które nikt nie będzie płacił. Zróbmy krok dalej, zaryzykujmy – mówił oraz filozoficznie stwierdził: – Wszystko musi się zmienić, żeby wszystko pozostało tak samo.
Spośród ciekawszych deklaracji należy przytoczyć zapewnienie Błażeja Kaczorowskiego, który powiedział, że Partia Piratów planuje wziąć udział w wyborach, gdyż prawo do prywatności jest zagrożone przez prawo autorskie. Wśród argumentów mających wspierać racje partii wymienił m.in. ekologiczność kopiowania plików. Podkreślił, że produkcja płyt nie jest już „zielona”. W efekcie około 10 osób na sali zadeklarowało oddanie głosu na Partię Piratów.
Nie obyło się również bez małych sensacji tego dnia. Jakub Duszyński z Gutek Film ujawnił, że dzień wcześniej zjadł obiad z Marcinem de Kamińskim, rozmawiając z nim – jak to ujął – o kilku interesujących sprawach.
ZAiKS, reprezentowany przez Andrzeja Kuśmierczyka, również zaskoczył – poparł pomysł aby nie ścigać piratów, tylko się z nimi dogadać. – Piractwo można wykorzystać do dobry celów – powiedział Kuśmierczyk.
Podsumowując, konferencja robiła się ciekawsza wraz z każdą kolejną minutą. Po niemrawym początku i bierności słuchaczy (Łukasz Gadowski, który miał prezentację w języku Shakespeare’a, w pewnym momencie zapytał: „Who’s present?”. Tylko kilka osób na sali podniosło rękę… ), wszystko zaczęło się powoli rozkręcać i zaowocowało ciekawymi dyskusjami podczas drugiej części spotkania.
